I can relate to your point of view. I complete maybe 25 - 50% less finished tracks than I did before I discovered modular synthesis in 2019. And between Eurorack and Bitwig polygrid (modular software), I have spent enough time that could have been used to write and release more tracks or EP's. Add to that the research and window shopping hours on youtube and I maybe could have writtent 2 or 3 albums in that time. However, Ive been a dedicated musician for 30+ plus years during which I have released around 60 electronic tracks, played in 10+ bands and co-wrote maybe 20 live music songs. Maybe Modular synthesis was an ideal novel avenue for exploration of the unfamiliar. Novel stuff is exciting for a dopamine starved brain that has played the same, genres beats, instruments and compositional structures for several decades non-stop. It must be acknowledged that youtube eurorack window shopping is a dopamine spiking/addictive experience that can worsen procrastination and decision paralysis too, but I am starting to wonder, as I am just about to invest thousands into Eurorack (after sellling it all because Bitwig & $$$) if the challenge of understanding modular concepts, both in eurorack and within software, if the whole endevour serves more of a purpose related to using my brain to problem solve by thinking about patching and sound design from within the framework of mathematics, boolean logic, electronic circuitry, neurochemistry (dopamine / GAS) all the while quenching the thirst of curiosity that "normal" or familiar music and methods of making music no longer can do - for me at least.
Cool and very funny video… subbed… and also looking at videos on that module! It might be my first when I take the modular jump 👍💯
This is a great help for me starting to make music, thanks ❤
What is with cascadia?
Your mom's got a Pam's 😂😂. Great vid, thanks
Can’t wait to share this. 😅 Thanks SOOOO much!!
Awesome stuff my guys, love to see it and hope for more. keep pushing y’all could be very successful in the space. 😎
Thanks, I’ve actually moved this over to its own channels now with Jack. It was such a good laugh it made sense to make The Unpatched Show its own thing. I am going to do my own thing here with some more synth/production focused stuff.
Awesome
Your videos are GOLD! Keep up the great work!
Recently got the Flame Knob Recorder mk2, it's like having 3 extra hands for knobbing action.
Its a luxury toy like buying a Harley or a Porsche.

Interesting to hear your thoughts but IMHO you should just ditch the disclaimers. I know there are always people complaining about anything anyone ever says on a video or writes. But I think you spend too much time assuring listeners that you aren't pushing your view, no opinion is wrong etc, then you risk your main message getting lost. People should stop acting like snowflakes and know when they watch a video that there will be personal opinions and there will always be some caveats.
Oh man this videos so old I can’t actually even remember what I said. I’m sure over time I became less worried about it anyway. I think around this time I was newer to the gear space & maybe my confidence grew with my authority in the space. All that aside; I’m not sure why I was so keen to really just share my opinion on particular pieces of gear. Even up the last few videos. I think as a wider part of the music making process, it’s interesting to explain how the gear is helping in context. But all these gear focused videos don’t really help anyone with writing or production. Only spending. I’m working on new videos but that focus around my workflow and process. And specifically to find the people who resonate with my music, values & practices. Not necessarily my opinions.
Good, common sense comments 👍 There's a weird trend of packing so much functionality into small modules that it rivals advanced keyboards or desktop synthesizers, but at what cost? Of course, at the cost of user interface and often reduced flexibility. It's a wrong idea, in my opinion. That's not what modular synthesis should be about. It should be about fun of turning simple elements into complex setups. More complex modules have their place, but without going too far into complexity and leaving the fun behind.
this is incredible, different aspect on their music , well created , respect 🙏
tell that to Wendy Carlos 😂😂
Gorgeous rig/setup Maven !
Just got my Doppio yesterday!
For the telly, you can use a universal remote which can be trained, or you can use a flipper zero :)
Thanks mate! 😊
Not a problem at all :) thanks for watching and the comment.
Excellent! I need the chord generator!
It is a game changer mate. Makes writing so much quicker. Combine that with some inversions and you’re away!
Jam- packed with great info. Thanks man! ✨🪐
Thanks Mike! :)
Glad to see you getting started with the courses!
Thanks. This is as far as it’s going at the moment though because I need to have a few weeks writing now for a show in April. Potentially the first with the modular. :)
@@Mavenfiction sounds interesting!
That was a really great breakdown man!
Cheers. Hope it’s helpful :)
That is an amazing little slot you have for yourself! Is that the same “shed” we’ve been seeing forever? So good! Great build out and goodness the collection is amazing!
uuuh :)
I love that you had to clarify that your Grandfather never wore those clogs...
nice wall. the tv thing: there are programmable universal tv remotes to buy;)

well with some exceptions UA-cam is just a big vehicle for advertisements. not only the UA-cam ads but also the content itself is completely riddled with advertisements... and a lot of surreptitious advertising disguised as some "lifestyle" bs...
So you set up your tripod and they guy didn’t notice
My tripod came pre-assembled? Granted… it was boxed. But I ensured I unboxed it prior to heading out. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Enough?
It’s good… but it’s not right haha
Unfortunately for you, my Neutron probably costs about 1/10th of that contraption.
Why’s it unfortunate for me?
Works surprisingly well. Though the vocal sounds more contemporary than 80s. (Which isn't a bad thing.) Sounds good though
Amazing.
Can I trade back some 80's tattoos I got for a new synth? I made so many mistakes and want a do-over.
She was born in that year not started music in that year
HOW DOES THIS NOT HAVE MORE VIEWS?!
Thanks… I always ask the same question haha!
Right?RIGHT?! ❤there should be a full Ver
Bravo! Your channel is amazing. Thank you
These things were DOPE! They had no place among my action figures and I still needed to have them.
Proud mum!
I hope so :) cheers for watching
Great work, very kind gesture as well 👏
Thanks for watching and for the comment. :)
I learned Softube Modular first in 2018 or so because I got it for "free" when I was buying Volume 2 or 3 for guitar/drums. I looked into 'real' modular but I knew if I had that I'd never finish any music - because I'd be too busy wigging out on patches. So my studio has two rules: semi-modular only and all effects* ITB. This is just so my ADHD head can finish anything at all. I need constraints, and these are the ones I chose. Still got an Intellijel Cascadia and an 0-Coast, still wouldn't go modular. It just wouldn't work for my attention span. Which I think I saw you more or less say in another video - that modular easily becomes a separate thing from making music. Wise words, those. *had. I bought a delay pedal just because of Cascadia's unique fx loop.
Why not just buy an Elektron Rytm for this price? Does tweakability, does amazing sequencing, world class performance, saves everything, even an audio interface.
